Raingutter Boat Racing - How To Make A Fast Regatta Boat

Waxing Quick

Water adheres to the bottom of the hull producing drag. But water does not adhere as strongly to wax. It runs right off or beads up instead of wetting it.

Apply Wax

We don't have any solid proof at this point, but it makes sense to wax your hull for the possible benefits of lower friction. It certainly hasn't hurt!

  1. Warm paraffin or ski wax in your hands until it is slightly pliable.
  2. Use it like a Crayon to rub it on the bottom of the hull and around runners and any part of the boat that is in the water.
  3. Use it to seal and water-proof any places that are not coated with acrylic paint or oil-based paint or a plastic polyurethane coating.
